ROLE
Reporting to the I.T. Project Manager, the Reporting Analyst/Programmer is responsible for assisting end users and departments with data extraction and reporting requirements from various in-house systems based on SQL and provide on-going and on-call support on a day to day basis to end users using these reports.
More specifically, you will have to:
Analyse business reporting requirements of end-user or department
Assess whether the reporting request is already available from current systems, otherwise assess scope and feasibility of the project (short term versus long term)
Create report specifications based on corporate standards and seek approval and prioritisation from the IT Steering Committee
Chose a reporting platform and tool(s) (Excel, VB, Access, SQL, SYSpro ERP Reporting, Crystal Reports)
Assist in the development of new reports from ERP
Migrate existing off-system reports to on-line reports in ERP
Create and test prototypes
Seek user acceptance
Create support documentation
Educate and train users if required
Put report into production if scheduled
Support reporting maintenance
Resolve reporting errors or report delivery (if scheduled)
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor in Computer Science and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) preferred
Min. 2 years experience in systems analysis/programming; manufacturing or construction industry experience an asset
In depth knowledge of Access, Excel, Visual Basic, MS SQL
Familiar with the following operating systems: Windows XP, Windows 7
Working knowledge of internet applications: HTML, Java, JavaScript, VBScript, etc.
Familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Exchange, Outlook, Project, Access, Visio
Reporting in Crystal Reports an asset
Experience with ERP package required; Syspro ERP an asset
Expertise in the application environment and its user interfaces
Knowledge of user aspects of the application, such as access levels, interface, reports and results[/u]
