The SQL Server Database Administrator is responsible for the health and operations of our SQL Server databases, with a main focus on operational activities. He will also contribute to the execution of various projects and will act as a second level support for the SQL Server systems under his responsibility (including 7/24 pager support).
Mission
The main and routine tasks of the SQL Server Database Administrator are:
· Own, track and resolve database related incidents and requests;
· Fulfill requests and resolve incidents within SLAs;
· Review service related reports (database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs;
· Respond to database related alerts and escalations and collaborate with architects to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems;
· Maintain documentation of database configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs);
· Enforce database security policies and procedures;
· Install and test new versions SQL Server;
· Participate in projects and undertaking the assigned tasks;
· Participate in the definition of standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics;
· Carry out all other related tasks.
Education
A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
Relevant experience
Experience with Database Administration for MS SQL Server in a 2000+ database / 2000+ server environment.

Knowledge
Required
· Experience with troubleshooting and resolving MS SQL database problems
· Knowledge of Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
· Extensive knowledge of complex SQL queries, T-SQL scripts and stored procedures
· Good knowledge of SQL Server security management
· Good knowledge of how SQL Server acquires and manages resources
· Good knowledge of SQL Server data integrity
· Good knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio
· Knowledge of backups, restores and recovery models
· Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server
· Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
· Knowledge of operational automation using scripts
· Working knowledge of Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations
