Please consult me if you can. I am going to apply for quebec selected skilled worker programme. Now I am at the stage of applying for a selection certificate.

Who can tell me? Is is very obligatory to have an english test results with you? Or other proofs, like letters and anything proving that I have worked in English is enough?

Thank you,
Anush

  1. There’s no need to provide any documentary proof of English language knowledge at all. Your English language skills will be tested by the immigration officer during the selection interview.

There is one case when you may be required to take IELTS exam — it is when your points, together with the French and English language skills you will specify in your Application for Selection Certificate, are enough to get the certificate without the need for adaptability points granted during the interview. In such case Vienna may send you a request to take TEFAQ and IELTS exams and send the results, with the aim to grant You the Selection Certificate by post, without interview.

I’m waiting for interview invitation. Docs are in Vienna since start of October 2010.
Actually, I had an IELTS exam passed and have sent tehm the certificate in any case. But again, that isn’t mandatory at all. It just ensures your points of the language not depending on the interview.

  3. Dear Anush,

I had an interview last year. I lived in abroad for many years. I studied and worked over there. So, before the interview they did not request any documents from me.

Yes, at the interview everyone speak French with an Immigration officer or use the assistance of an interpreter, but at the end of the interview they check your English as well. So, with me it took maximum 10 min.

    But the main is French.

    So, wish you good luck!

  4. Dear friend,

so it means that in the process of sending the docs to Vienna I may not send the test results? It is not obligatory?

after sending my documents to Vienna I must learn French very intensively, am I right? As far as I understood I cannot do without French?

  5. Dear Anush,

It depends on what programme are you going to apply for…. And as I understand that you wanted to immigrate via Quebec programme, right?

If yes, so OF COURSE you have to speak (and learn or improve French if the level is not so good) French. The interview will be in French as I said you before and as well..you will live in Quebec proivince in the future. But again…it’s your right to choose the any province in Canada after immigration.

Regarding myself, I am planning to fly, live and stay in Quebec province. Why? Just because I made a decision before applying for such programme and looking forward to living in Montreal.

So, everyone has the own plan for the future. And only YOU who must decide from the beginning about all the process in immigration. Please read all links on the internet, they are very helpfull.

Wish you good luck in your immigration process.

    :D

You are right — you do not need to send any test results to Vienna with your Application package.

And you are right again — French will be mandatory during the interview. You CANNOT pass the interview without knowing French, at least on a level to be able to understand the majority of officer’s questions and reply to them. Not important in great french, but at least so that he/she can see taht in Quebec you will be able to communicate to people from the first day you land there.
