Position: IT Technician (Specialist Communication / Networks)
Location: Nunavik, Quebec
Main function:
Under the direction of computer systems manager:
• Provide technical support to users of the site;
• Ensures the proper operation of communications networks (telephony, videoconferencing, internet, intranet, radio …);
• Work with the IT department located off site for the installation of new equipment or the physical verification of different aspects of the network site;
• Manage data backup site;
• Prepare reports of proceedings
Working Conditions:
• Place of practice activity: mining site in remote areas (northern Quebec) depending on a group whose head office is currently in Montreal;
• Company’s mining sector is going to develop;
• Working closely with the IT department of the company;
• Regular trips to various points of service at the mine site;
• Availability: may be required to take training off-site;
• The workload is significant because the company is under construction;
• The work schedule is 3 weeks on site followed by two weeks off site.
Training:
• DEC or AEC data technology or equivalent;
• 2-5 years of professional experience in the field;
• Knowledge of telecommunications networks (Internet, LAN, Wi-Fi);
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems XP, Vista and Windows 7;
• Must have a certification in computer networking, telephony and know radio is a plus;
• Excellent level of English required.
Number of Positions Expected
• 2 posts in rotation (3 weeks at the site, two weeks off-site)
