Job Description:
— Join a multi-functional SCRUM Agile software engineering team of developers and testers.
— Plan and estimate tasks for forthcoming development ‘sprints’, using the JIRA project-tracking system.
— Ownership of the quality of CAE Mining software products, including advising on efficient test strategies to achieve excellent quality within expected delivery dates.
— Regression and system testing of core products to strict delivery deadlines.
— Maintenance and creation of automated test scripts, in native COM-aware scripting languages (VBA, JavaScript) and Ranorex.
— Clear and concise reporting of defects, test summaries and a pragmatic approach to highlighting the severity of issues found.
— Collaborative development on test harness and test plans (manual or automated), shared by multiple QA staff.
— Maintenance of a central QA Test Documentation repository and ongoing improvement of the structure and content of this store.
— Keep a liaison with QA and development staff around the world, including regular contact with staff in the United Kingdom, Quebec and Australia.
— May need to travel to the international offices.
Job Qualification:
A minimum of two years industry experience software testing in a commercial software development unit.
Exposure to automated testing tools (e.g. Rational Robot, TestPilot, SilkTest, Ranorex) will be considered an advantage.
ISEB, ISTQB, CAST or equivalent professional qualification is a plus
Be familiar with, and recognize the importance of, effective unit, smoke, integration, system, regression, non-functional and system testing protocols.
Experience of a modern bug-tracking and/or project-tracking package (e.g. JIRA).
Recent experience of working within an agile software development, and a familiarity with the ‘SCRUM’ methodology.
Experience of creating, editing and following manual regression test scripts, including the ongoing development of test documentation templates.
Confident and effective communicator
Working knowledge of COM-aware scripting languages, whilst not essential, is a desirable skill.
Instinctive understanding of effective user interface design, and a willingness to be directly involved in the design process.
Ability to remain flexible and adaptable, and react well when working under pressure.
Bilingualism (French and English) is required.
