Description:
A Data Center Network Engineer provides technical leadership for team resources performing installs, configuration, and leads ongoing support for data center class network devices. Daily responsibilities include interacting with other support teams and customer teams to insure operational availability, perform design initiatives to enable new services and documentation of highly complex technical environments. All work is performed in a 7x24x365 high availability environment with on-calls rotation. Candidates should be well versed in routing, switching, and firewall technologies usually acquired through 4 to 7 years in a complex networking environment. This is a network engineering position, Hands-on technical skills are required.
Responsibilities:
Provides Operations and Engineering support to a complex, high availability computing environment.
Maintains Documentation, Network Policies and Security standards.
Configure and add capacity to server load balancers (Ace blades)
Configure and add rack-switch capacity in the data center (Cisco 3750s)
Configure and add peers within established policy framework
Configure and add core switch and router interfaces and line cards (Cisco 6509 / 7201 / ASR)
Configure and turn up data-center capacity in rack denominations
Configure and turn up VIPs based on standards
Configure and add to VIP pools based on standards
Troubleshoot and triage all of the above during on call rotation
Participate in cross departmental work groups to identify and resolve provisioning issues and service problems.
Participate as a hands-on member of the Infrastructure Deployment team.
Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging state of the art network technologies for problem resolution and project planning.
Contacts vendors of network equipment for technical assistance and problem resolution.
Candidate will be required to be available outside regular business hours to address production problems, perform maintenance, and provide ongoing support.
Qualifications:
Technical Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 5 years experience as a network consultant
Minimum 5 years experience designing and deploying network infrastructures
Experience with a service provider based network
Experience with troubleshooting IP routing protocols
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – required
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – preferred
Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) – R&S / IPC – preferred
Experience with a wide range of Cisco network Devices including routers, SAN switches, Firewalls and VoIP Infrastructure.
Expert in large scale LAN and WAN design and deployment
Linux experience (CentOs)
Good understanding of client / server OS — Windows / UNIX
Experience at configuring data networks comprised of: SAN technologies, Centos and VERITAS Cluster File System.
